An emotion that has lasted for almost a century. The Formula 1 Grand Prix of Italy, this year, will run at the Monza circuit from 4 to 6 September. The city of Lombardy is one of the most engaging stages of the Championship, and it is precisely during this race that the drivers reach the highest speeds of the world, to the delight of fans.
The public always arrives from all over the world, being the week of the Grand Prix full of events. In the days of competition, in fact, the city becomes more alive than ever: squares that turn into outdoor restaurants, with live music, shows and live entertainment, street food tastings and sporting events.

Italian Gran Prix, history

The Circuit of Monza is also known as The Temple of Speed, and represents the mecca of motor sports. It is the result of an architectural project unique in the world, born in the ’20s, which led to the birth of great innovations from both the sporting and technological point of view, as in the case of the elevated and the draining asphalt.
The circuit was built in record time of 3 months, under the pressing need to equip Italy with a circuit that was a source of national pride, able to compete with the glories of the prestigious Grand Prix of France.
The sports facility officially opened on September 3, 1922, with the President of the Council Facta, and on September 10 was raced the second Italian Grand Prix (the first was held the previous year in the province of Brescia, on a circuit obtained from roads open to traffic!).
The First Grand Prix in Monza saw the historic victory of Pietro Bordini driving a 6-cylinder Fiat 804. The Second World War caused the total suspension of all sporting activities within the circuit, which assumed the most varied functions until 1948, year in which it was fully restored and started again to host the Formula 1 Grand Prix. Over the years, important modifications were made to improve the facilities and to adapt the circuit to the new needs of the competitions.
